Members of the National Association of Realtors will persist as unwavering allies for the millions of Americans pursuing homeownership and the American dream. Specifically, the settlement will forbid the sharing of compensation offers on multiple listing services (MLSs), platforms that display properties for sale to real estate brokers.

Additionally, MLS participants will be mandated to formalize written agreements with their buyers, signaling a commitment to transparency and professionalism.

These significant changes are scheduled to come into effect in mid to late July 2024, marking a crucial juncture in the evolution of the industry.

Commission Clarity

It's essential to underscore that the National Association of Realtors does not govern commission structures, and the proposed settlement will not alter this fundamental aspect. The negotiation of commissions will persist as a collaborative process between buyers, sellers, and their respective brokers.
